Research surrounding emotional intelligence (EQ) shows that EQ competencies (self-awareness, self control, social awareness, relationship management) are critical to the success of leaders and the performance of the companies they lead – fare more than technical skills/traditional IQ, especially as leaders operate at more senior levels (Goleman, 2004)
