Online Mindfulness for Leaders course
A 6 -week Mindfulness course for leaders looking to develop their focus and ability to be present so that they can respond to complex situations and people more skilfully.
We can also offer these courses (including taster sessions on the Science of Mindfulness) in house remotely. Please contact us to enquire about supporting leaders in your organisation.
Our fast-paced, technological world is full of distraction and intense competition. Research shows we need leaders who are:
- Able to lead and thrive in every changing environments
However, leaders are instead often busy, distracted and exhausted.
Mindfulness is about developing our focus and our ability to be present so that we can respond to complex situations and people more skilfully. It is about moving out of more habitual, automatic and reactive behaviours and into more intentional and considered ones.
In a sentence: Mindfulness is about behaviour change and treating ourselves differently.
‘Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.’
~ Victor Frankl
What is the evidence for this?
Mindfulness training has been shown to improve leaders’ wider Emotional Intelligence. Research shows this personal and professional development is achieved through a combination of taught programmes and independent home practice. The evidence shows development in the following key leadership capacities (Reitz & Chaskelson, 2016):
- Agility in the face of complexity
- Overall mindfulness
You can also watch a broader 2 minute talk on the Mindful Pathway Science of Mindfulness video on YouTube by our Founder, Ruth Farenga.
Is this the course for you?
Who is this course for?
This course is for leaders in organisations. It is a space for personal and professional development as well as engaging with a network of like-minded peers.
What is the course format?
The course starts on Thursday 25th February. The format is as follows:
- 6 x 90 min weekly interactive online sessions via zoom
- A set of downloadable meditations for use throughout the course
- Additional Mindfulness exercises to complete each week
- Optional contact with tutor in between sessions
What’s the home-practice commitment?
Besides the weekly sessions, you’ll be invited to undertake 10-20mins a day of meditation practice. This home practice is key for your development in the course. Therefore, it is worth considering—before you book—if you can set aside this time each day to complete your practice. This will enable you to get the most out of your experience.
- £395 early bird until Thursday 21st January
- £495 Standard price
Why is this course 6 weeks as opposed to shorter or longer?
Much of the neuroscientific research points to the development of the brain over time through Mindfulness training, including (crucially) home practice. The clinical evidence is often based on 8 weeks with significant long-lasting changes occurring from week 5 onwards of a course. At Mindful Pathway, we believe that 6 weeks is an ideal course length for busy leaders to experience the benefits of Mindfulness. Those who are more interested can then continue their practice through their own self-study or through further coaching and training.
Do I have to share with the group? Would I not be better doing this course 1-2-1?
It is possible to do this training 1-2-1 with us, so please contact us if this is your preference. However, we encourage the group format in a confidential setting. Mindfulness and wider Emotional Intelligence development is dependent on our inter-relation with others. So, being in a group helps us reflect on our own behaviour as well as our responses to fellow participants. This means that group training is an ideal setting.
It is worth noting that everything is ‘an invitation’ to share—you are not obligated to share anything with the group at all. Though, participants will benefit from sharing if they choose to.
Practically, what will we be doing in the sessions?
During the online sessions via Zoom, we will be covering taught content, undertaking Mindfulness exercises such as meditation, as well as reflecting in pairs, small groups (in virtual breakout rooms) and as a whole group. Each week, you will be given home practice meditations and exercises to complete and will be held accountable by the group. You will reflect on your experiences during the week.
What if I need to miss a week?
We know life can sometimes demand our attention and missing one week is OK. However, if you know you have to miss more than one week, we would advise you take the course at another time.
Will a recording be available?
We ask that participants do their utmost to attend the live sessions for the benefit of themselves and the wider group.
Who is the course taught by?
The course is taught by the Founder of Mindful Pathway, Ruth Farenga. Ruth is a fully qualified Mindfulness Teacher as well as an accredited Professional Coach. Her full biography can be found here.

‘I have suffered with crippling anxiety on and off for the last two years. I was really anxious about attending this course as I wasn’t sure how it would make me feel. I was completely overwhelmed by what I learnt in such a short space of time and how great I felt afterwards. I haven’t been able to sleep properly for a long time, with the advice from Ruth I have slept every night this week which is incredible!’
‘Ruth is a wonderful, engaging facilitator with a no bull-shit approach whilst remaining respectful to everyone in the room. She was very interested in what every participant had to say and really listened. I found myself opening up in a group environment in a way that I never have done before’
